The Boca Bacchanal Committee has announced the pairings of the Vintner Dinner chefs, vintners and venues for its weekend winefest and auction planned for February 29 - March 2, 2008. This is the sixth edition of the popular event, which benefits the Heritage Education Programs of the Boca Raton Historical Society. There will be eight extraordinary and delicious Vintner Dinners on Friday, February 29, to launch the festivities.

The announcement was made at the annual “Pairings Party” co-hosted by Citibank and the Boca Raton Resort & Club and Executive Chef Andrew Roenbeck. At the party, attended by Vintner Dinner hosts, event partners, committee members and over 200 enthusiastic patrons, guests enjoyed hors d’ oeuvres and a variety of wines provided by Founding Partner, Republic National Distributing Company (RNC).

The Fundamentals of Sake

Speaker: John Gauntner - sake journalist, evangelist and educator from Japan.

John Gauntner will present a lecture on the fundamentals of sake, followed by a tasting of a range of premium sake. The lecture will cover all one needs to answer the majority of questions related to Japan's indigenous beverage: what sake is, basic production, short history, grades, good sake and not so good sake, temperature, vessels, storage and more. The tasting that follows will demonstrate the variety of flavor profiles that sake can present, and help solidify the information presented in the lecture.
