Hawk's Cay Goes Glam

Hawk's Cay, the “Hamptons of the keys” just got a lot more swank with a $35 million facelift. Posh upgrades include one-on-one pod check-in service, a multi-tiered sun terrace, five pools, tumbled marble showers and dark West Indian furniture. Located on the private 60-acre duck key, the resort is a two-hour drive from Miami, a no-brainer for quick getaways.
The hotel's famous amenities are still intact – formal yacht-side dining, the private villas and the 7,000 square-foot spa. You can even fulfill your Flipper fantasies by interacting with dolphins in the resort's saltwater lagoon.
There are five restaurants to choose from but we recommend San Fran toque Johnny Alamilla's Nuevo Latin American restaurant Alma, an adults-only spot where you can feast on halibut with anchiote potatoes in peace. Or you could opt for toes-in-the-sand dining at the sand beach grill. Become a fish monger with the hotel's hook n' cook option. If you hook it, they'll cook it.
